Basic travel information

Wreck dive sites in the Red Sea – Thistlegorm, Rosalie Möller and the wrecks of Abu Nuhas!

The Thistlegorm wreck was sunk in June 1941 and is one of the most spectacular wrecks in the world. The wreck is 120m long and 18m wide.Thistlegorm lies at the bottom at a depth of 30m and is thus easily accessible with recreational diving equipment. The wreck was discovered by Jacques Cousteau in 1956 and has since been the target of millions of divers. The wreck is well preserved and offers plenty to see: e.g. BSA motorcycles, rifles, airplane wings, trucks, airplane engines and of course tuna, barracudas, moray eels, turtles and winged shells.

The wreck Rosalie Möller also sank in 1941 a few days after Thistlegorm. Rosalie Möller sank in a coal cargo. Rosalie lies at the bottom at a depth of 45m and its deck is at a depth of 35m. The wreck is exceptionally well preserved and significantly less dived than Thistlegorm. Rosalie is 110m long and attracts a lot of marine life, e.g. glass fish, barracud, winged sharks, reef sharks and bat fish.

At least five wrecks have sunk into Abu Nuhas over the years, making it an ideal destination for divers. All wrecks are shallow and easily dive within the boundaries of recreational diving. Targets in the area include e.g. Kimon K, Chrisoula K, Carnatic, Giannis D and Seastar. Dolphins also thrive in Abu Nuhas and often entertain divers there with their presence.

Ras Mohammed Reef is one of the most spectacular reefs in the Red Sea. Wall diving, top visibility, stunning soft corals and color splendor, and of course the Jolanda wreck.
